In addition to serving as a vehicle for charitable giving and making grants, the foundation exercises community leadership on issues that shape our collective future. At times, we may offer special funding opportunities to organizations working on these issues.
LiveWell Lawrence
LiveWell Lawrence’s mission is to inspire and advance policy, environmental and lifestyle changes that promote healthy eating and active living in Douglas County.
It began in 2008, when the Kansas Health Foundation made a grant to us to address two drivers of chronic disease: poor diet and physical inactivity. A coalition of community leaders is working on several approaches which, taken together, may begin to nudge residents toward healthier futures.

Nonprofit Capacity-Building Workshops: The foundation and the United Way of Douglas County cosponsor a monthly series of workshops to equip nonprofit staff and volunteers to serve the community as effectively as possible. A common forum allows for the exchange of ideas and establishment of relationships between local experts and area nonprofit leaders. You will find the workshop schedule here.
