Our friends at Family Promise received a 2018 Spring Community Grant to weatherize the Family Promise house. Help from private businesses, and from the wonderful skills of a graduate of the FPL program, all made it possible. A beautiful story of the community working together to make life better for vulnerable families!
From the 2018 Community Grant Report:
“As is so often the case, because of the generosity of our community and the people and organizations we work with, Family Promise of Lawrence received a discount on the labor costs from the insulation company and some donated labor from the masonry/ foundation company. The discount from Insulation Pros allowed us to have some remaining money in our Weatherization Grant budget from DCCF and we hired a former graduate of the FPL program, who does carpentry and siding work, to replace the outside siding on the first floor after the holes were drilled to install the insulation. He will also be repairing the inside holes on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Day Center, later this year. The extra work during a slow part of his usual labor season, helps his family and certainly helps Family Promise and is an added bonus to the grant award.”
