DCCF Provides COVID-19 Crisis Emergency Response Grants

Douglas County Community Foundation has awarded DCCF Crisis Response Fund grants to 33 nonprofit organizations serving Douglas County residents, totaling over $250,000. These organizations are providing direct services to Douglas County residents facing food and housing insecurity, job losses and health challenges. DCCF Crisis Response Fund Grants were for 501(c)(3) organizations located in or serving residents of Douglas County, Kansas, and who are providing direct assistance to clients effected by the current pandemic crisis. 

The following grants were awarded (as of July 15, 2020):
Ballard Community Services – Ballard Center Early Childhood Education Support during COVID-19 Crisis - $10,000
Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center – COVID-19 Service Delivery Transformation - $5,438
Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas – COVID-19 Disaster Relief Programming - $5,000
Centro Hispano – Emergency Response Case Management Fund - $10,000
Charlotte Street Foundation – Rocket Relief Emergency Fund for Artists Impacted by Covid-19 - $7,500
Children's Learning Center - COVID-19 Parent Communication Technology - $2,100
Community Village Lawrence - COVID-19 Safety Items - $1,000
Cottonwood, Inc. – COVID-19’s Impact on Cottonwood - $10,000
Douglas County Dental Clinic - COVID-19 Response - Dental Clinic Sterlization Upgrade - $5,095
Douglas County Visiting Nurses – COVID-19 Recovery and Relief - $10,000
ECKAN – Douglas County Families affected by the COVID-19 - $5,000
Eudora Schools Foundation – Eudora Schools Essential Food Grant - $5,000
Full Circle Tenant Services – Utilities Assistance Program - $5,000
Headquarters, Inc. – Suicide Prevention - $4,600
Heartland Community Health Center – Heartland COVID-19 Response 2020 - $13,000
Housing and Credit Counseling - HCCI Free Counsels - Households & Small Business Owners - $2,100
Just Food of Douglas County, KS, Inc. – COVID-19 Hunger Relief - $10,000
KPR - Kansas Public Radio – Remote Broadcast Equipment - $4,640
Lawrence Arts Center – Expanding Online Learning Access - $5,000
Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen – LINK request for COVID-19 emergency expenses - $3,000
Lawrence Restaurant Association c/o United Way of Douglas County – Lawrence Restaurant Association COVID-19 Hospitality Relief Fund - $20,000
Lawrence Schools Foundation – Let’s Keep Feeding The Kids! Community Meal Program - $25,000
Lumberyard Arts Center, Inc. – Face Masks for Baldwin City - $4,000
O’Connell Youth Ranch, Inc. – O’Connell Youth Ranch (OYR) COVID-19 Response - $7,000
Stull United Methodist Church – Stull United Methodist Church Rural Food Pantry / Clothes Closet - $4,000
Tenants to Homeowners, Inc. – COVID-19 prevention Housing Stabilization Collaborative - $25,000
The Salvation Army of Douglas County – The Salvation Army Food Pantry - $5,000
The Sunrise Project/LCFA – Nourishing Community - $2,500
The Willow Domestic Violence Center – Emergency Housing and Safety - $25,000
United Way of Douglas County - COVID-19 Donation & Volunteer Center - $5,280
Van Go, Inc. – Van Go’s COVID-19 Emergency Response - $5,000

This grant program is made possible by generous donors to the Douglas County/Rise Lawrence Disaster Response Fund. Since March 25, 2020 the Fund has received $230,000 in grants and donations from current DCCF board members, staff, and donors, but additional contributions are needed NOW to meet the need.
