2020 LiveWell Community Wellness Grants Awarded at LiveWell Annual Celebration
Fifteen local organizations were awarded DCCF’s LiveWell Community Wellness Grants totaling $86,372. LiveWell Community Wellness Grants aim to support the health of Douglas County residents by creating conditions that lead to healthy eating and physically active lifestyles. Grantees were recognized virtually at the annual LiveWell Douglas County celebration, which was held through a video conference due to Covid-19.
Here are the grantees and their projects:
• Ballard Community Services, Outdoor Playtime Project, $5,645.
• Children's Learning Center, Enhancement of Nutritional Supports, $3,000.
• City of Baldwin City, Bicycle Parking & Repair Station, $3,708.
• City of Lawrence, Little Prairie Donation Garden and Orchard, $8,000.
• Community Mercantile Education Foundation, Hunger Relief and Community Building for Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority Residents, $5,600.
• ECKAN, Oral Health Care in the Middle of COVID-19 Pandemic, $6,000.
• Eudora Schools Foundation, Eudora High School Outdoor Learning and Culinary Arts Center, $10,000.
• Friends of Lawrence Area Trails (FLAT), Promoting Physical Activity on Lawrence’s Trails Through Mapping and Communication Campaigns, $6,100.
• Just Food of Douglas County, KS, Pantry Finishings, $8,893.
• K-State Research and Extension-Douglas County, Virtual “Cooking Connected” - Families and Teens Develop Essential Skills Together, $5,576.
• O'Connell Youth Ranch, O'Connell Youth Ranch Lives Well, $7,160.
• The Children's Shelter, Emotional Reset Opportunities for the Youth in the Children's Shelter's Homes, $4,000.
• The Sunrise Project, Growing Roots Café, $8,200.
• USD 497, Woodlawn Community Cupboard: An Outdoor Food Pantry for North Lawrence, $2,000.
• USD 497, Sensory Accessible Community Garden, $2,490.
