2019 LiveWell Community Wellness Grants awarded at LiveWell Douglas County Breakfast

Thirteen local organizations were awarded DCCF’s LiveWell Community Wellness Grants totaling $87,083. LiveWell Community Wellness Grants support projects that increase access to healthy food and make it easier for people in Douglas County to be physically active. Grantees attended the annual DCCF donor recognition event where their organizations and their projects were recognized, as well as the LiveWell Douglas County Breakfast.

Here are the grantees and their projects:
 Children’s Learning Center, Inc., CLC Indoor Fitness Room and outdoor access for infants, $15,000.
• Eudora Schools FoundationCardinal Cycling and Cardinal Blocks, $11,000.
• Lawrence Schools FoundationEarly Childhood and Community Inclusive Playground at Kennedy Elementary, $10,000.
• K-State Research and Extension-Douglas County, fiscal agent of Healthy Food For All Workgroup of LiveWell Douglas County, Increasing Food Security and Access to Healthy Food for Douglas County Children and Youth, $10,000.
• Midland Care Connection, Inc., PACE Live Well In My Community Project, $10,000
 USD 497Getting Students Back on Bikes, $7,500.
 Lawrence Arts CenterSmART Moves – fun health and nutrition education for young children, $5,000.
• Rubber & Glue Co., Pollinator Habitat & Entryway Enhancement at Garden Incubator, $5,000.
• The Sunrise Project/LCFA, Farm to Summer, $4,500.
• Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department Community Garden, $3,085.
• Friends of Lawrence Area Trails (FLAT), Building Local Capacity to Fundraise for Trails, $2,850.
• Lawrence Meals on Wheels, Inc.,  Delivery Bag Upgrade and Replacement, $2,250.
• The Willow Domestic Violence CenterAccess to Healthy Meals Project, $898.
