DCCF Board Awards Fall Community Grants
The Board of Directors of the Douglas County Community Foundation has awarded more than $132,000 to nonprofit organizations active in Douglas County through the Douglas County Community Foundation Fall 2019 Community Grants program.
The following nonprofits received awards for a variety of programs and projects to improve the lives of the citizens of Douglas County.
• Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, $5,000 for Child and Family Intensive Community Based Services.
• Children’s Learning Center, Inc., $10,000 for Damage Repair and Prevention for their facility.
• City of Baldwin City, $4,500 got Destination Baldwin City: Creating a Vibrant Downtown Green Space for Community Engagement .
• Communities in School, $5,000 for Integrated Student Supports at Kennedy Elementary School.
• ERC Resource & Referral, Inc., dba Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, $3,450 for the Get Set for Success program.
• Father and Daughter Alliance dba Youth Trust Project received $7,500 for Building Capacity to Serve CSEC Youth.
• Girls on the Run Serving Greater Kansas City was granted $3,500 for Girls on the Run- Inspiring Joyful, Healthy & Confident Girls in Douglas County.
• Harvesters – The Community Food Network received $5,000 for Childhood Weekend Feeding – Douglas County BackSnack with School Pantry Pilot.
• Headquarters, Inc. was granted $5,608 for Furnishing Counseling Rooms in their new building.
• Kansas Public Radio received $5,000 for replacing a transmitter.
• Lawrence Children’s Choir has been awarded $2,700 to redesign their website.
• Lawrence Community Orchestra, Inc. will purchase professional sheet music folders with a $1,500 award.
• Lecompton Community Pride was granted $5,000 to install sound system in the auditorium of the Lecompton Community Pride Building/Historic Lecompton High School.
• O’Connell Youth Ranch, Inc., received $10,000 for Welcome to O’Connell Youth Ranch.
• Second Century Fund was awarded $10,000 for accessibility improvements to St. Luke AME Church.
• Senior Resource Center for Douglas County, Inc., has received $4,300 ADA Accessible Van Door Repair for Baldwin and Eudora Wheels Programs.
• Success By 6 Coalition of Douglas County, $5,000 for the Keep Infants & Toddlers Housed (KITH) program.
• The Arc of Douglas County received $4,850 for a Technology Upgrade.
• The Children’s Shelter, Inc. will be able to provide Trauma-Informed Care Training to their employees with a $6,000 grant.
• The Sunrise Project/LCFA received $5,000 for Sunrise Community Center Improvements.
• The Willow Domestic Violence Center was awarded $7,060 for the Safe Home Project.
• Trinity In-Home Care will be working on a Technology Upgrade thanks to a $10,000 grant award.
• Van Go, Inc., received $1,600 for a Woodshop Capacity Building Initiative.
• Visiting Nurses Association will purchase a Bladder Scanner with their $5,143 grant award.
The Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) was created in 2000 as a tax-exempt public charity for the people of Douglas County, including the cities of Baldwin City, Eudora, Lawrence and Lecompton. DCCF is a community leader convening government agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, and coordinating resources to create positive change.
