LINK During COVID-19

With a can-do attitude and social distancing, LINK to-go is happening.
Posted Thursday June 25, 2020

From the LINK Grant Report:

"As soon as restrictions were imposed after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, LINK stepped up to address safety challenges in order to continue serving nutritious meals to anyone in Lawrence, no questions asked.  Thanks to the funds we received from the DCCF Crisis Response Fund Grant, as well as our volunteers and supporters, we have served an average of 360 meals per week during Covid-19 to hungry people in our community.

We've shifted to a pick up meal distribution process instead of allowing guests in our dining room. It's not ideal, but for now it is well received and needed. As such,  we have used the generous funding that we received from the DCCF Crisis Grant for new expenses, like to-go containers, disposable utensils, and cleaning and sanitation supplies.  Also, since many of our regular serving groups are the most susceptible to Covid-19 and cannot leave their homes, we have had to purchase food to supplement donations.   The funding from the DCCF Crisis Fund has an immediate impact on those who are hungry in the Lawrence community during these challenging times.
