Spring 2018 Community Grants Announced

The following nonprofit organizations active in Douglas County received awards through our Spring 2018 Community Grants program.

Baldwin Education Foundation, $2,227 for Love & Logic Curriculum and Training for Kindergarten and First Grade Classroom Teachers.

Ballard Community Services, $10,000 for integrating with Penn House at one location One Legacy, One Mission, One Building.

Children’s Learning Center, Inc, $10,000 for a Courtyard Playground Revitalization Project.

Community Mercantile Education Foundation, $5,000 for Growing Food, Growing Hope: A Garden Collaboration with DCCCA First Step at LakeView.

Cottonwood, Inc., $15,000 for a van to transport consumers Embracing Community.

Douglas County CASA, $5,000 for Mission-Based Donor Management Platform to Support CASA Services.

Douglas County Housing, Inc., $4,000 for residents to Access Technology in the Resident Services Center.

Eudora Schools Foundation, $6,500 for Eudora Schools for Youth Mental Health First Aid Training.

Family Promise of Lawrence, $9,500 for Day Center Weatherization.

Just Food of Douglas County, KS, Inc., $10,000 for Classroom Cupboard.

Kansas Legal Services, $4,000 for Jayhawk Legal Services for Seniors in partnership with the Senior Resource Center.

Lawrence Anti-Trafficking Taskforce and Education Association, $3,200 for Increasing LATTE’s Capacity for Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Education.

Lawrence Arts Center, $7,000 for Theater Accessibility for the Hearing Impaired.

Lawrence Community Nursery School, $3,600 for Preschool Curriculum Enhancement. 

Lawrence Community Shelter, $12,000 for Lawrence Community Shelter Washer and Dryer.

Lawrence Habitat for Humanity, $5,400 for Senior Home Improvement Program.

Lawrence Meals on Wheels, Inc., $3,800 for Technology and Equipment Upgrade.

Lawrence Public Library Foundation, $1,000 for Lawrence Public Library Mobility Scooter.

Lawrence Sertoma Club & Schiefelbusch Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, $5,000 for Sertoma-Schiefelbusch Communication Camp

Tenants to Homeowners, $5,000 Building Stability Case Management Program.

The Light Center, $2,500 for Thriving While Living with Suicide program.

USD 497, for $2,250 Team STEAM Pi-Bot Summer Camp for Middle School Students.
