Generosity in action: Landen Lucas Foundation–Sports for Life Fund

The Landen Lucas Foundation–Sports for Life Fund was established at DCCF this year. The foundation’s mission is to create access and opportunity for all youth. The fund gives financially disadvantaged youth the opportunity to experience the social and academic benefits that come from playing sports. “Approximately 2,000 youth in Douglas County live at or below the poverty line. Many of our local youth miss out on the benefits of sports because of money,” says Landen Lucas. “Playing sports helps with self-esteem, grades and behavior. We’ve given scholarships for everything from baseball to archery, and school counselors have seen the positive changes in these students. Our goal is to create access and opportunity for all youth to participate in sports. We appreciate the support of our donors, and we welcome you all to help us with our mission.”
