Community Children’s Center is the non-profit organization charged with bringing the early childhood community center for Douglas County to life. This project is an unprecedented community-based collaboration to create a safety net and welcoming hub of support for the entire early childhood community. Located at 346 Maine St. in Lawrence, Kansas, this center will increase access to affordable, high-quality child care and education for infants and toddlers by up to 140 spots with both day and night shifts. In addition, children, families and early childhood professionals will all benefit from a robust Family Resource Center to facilitate access to community-based social services. A professional support network will strengthen the early childhood care and education infrastructure across our community through training, shared resources and business support. Our children are the future of Douglas County. There is no other investment as worthwhile or with as much promise.
