Douglas County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) was founded in 1991 by the Hon. Jean Shepherd. A member of Kansas CASA and National CASA Associations, Douglas County CASA provides comprehensive advocacy for children who have experienced abuse and neglect and are living under court protection in temporary foster placements. In collaboration with their staff supervisors, CASA volunteers advocate for the child's best interests, including medical and educational needs, and provide a trusted, caring, and consistent presence during their journey to a safe, permanent home. By donating to the Douglas County CASA fund, you will support the agency's mission to serve children who have experienced abuse and neglect, addressing their most critical needs, and ensuring they don’t fall through the cracks in the child welfare system.
