The Lawrence Art Guild was founded in 1962 by a small volunteer group of Lawrence residents who shared a common interest in art. In 1990, the Lawrence Art Guild was approved as a designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization by the state of Kansas. The Guild continues as a volunteer organization.
Over the years, the Guild has supported: multiple art exhibits; all member shows; holiday art fairs; and the signature annual event, Art in the Park. The Guild has also assisted artists through grant programs, networking opportunities, lectures, and workshops. Financial support comes from membership dues, member artist event registration fees, and sales commissions.
