The Lawrence City Band is a community ensemble of volunteer musicians that has continued a tradition of music excellence and service that has been a part of Lawrence virtually since the City's founding. The summer concert series is performed eight consecutive Wednesday evenings at historic South Park, or in inclement weather in the Lied Center of Kansas. The summer concerts feature outstanding guest artists and conductors, and each concert draws an audience of several hundred to over a thousand people. The Band also performs a holiday concert in December as well as at other community events.
