Housing Stabilization Collaborative

Posted Tuesday July 14, 2020

The Housing Stabilization Collaborative provides financial rent support and low-interest microloans to Douglas County renters experiencing a COVID-affected income. Through the HSC, tenants, landlords and participating agencies are brought together to collaboratively establish equitable and sustainable solutions for rent support and successful housing.

Working in partnership, Family Promise of Lawrence and Tenants to Homeowners formed the HSC as a COVID-responsive program to serve our community’s housing stabilization needs. The DCCF Crisis Response Fund Grant program awarded $25,000 in support of this collaboration.

As of 7.13.20 HSC has provided direct rental support and move-in assistance to 37 families with 71 kids and a total of 113 individuals. So far, Program costs total: $34,263 which is only $303/person to prevent homelessness and stabilize housing.

All those served have COVID-affected income under 30% AMI and have been eligible for rental assistance as a direct grant. A majority were able to maintain their current rental housing while those experiencing homelessnees were able to be moved into stable housing, reducing their increased health risks due to the pandemic.

Thanks to the many who supported this project through donations to the DCCF Disaster Response Fund!
